2008: When my chinese friend annoyed the heck out of our group of friends with how fascinated he was with China hosting the Olympics, I was intrigued, I know it is the Olympics but what gives?! so every time he stays over at my place he would show us the plans, the proposed pictures and all other works China is doing for the Olympics. Being an Engineering student we were convinced China was cooking up something really big for the Olympics.
2009: Olympics was done and now my chinese friend is talking about the Shanghai World Expo. This time our group of friends barely cared and simply ignored him, but when he showed me the plans and how massive the expo ground will be i was just amazed and stunned when he revealed that most of the structures are temporary!
2010: During the Month of May i got to talk to my Chinese friend after a year of no communication. He mentioned he was planning to go to China for the Shanghai World Expo. This time he showed me the actual website, I browsed through it and to cut the story short I soon ended up buying tickets bound to Shanghai for September.
Now buying the ticket was the easiest part, in my opinion, just like most things in life for something to be "awesomely successful" it takes planning, days and nights of stressing out, reading blogs, online reviews, looking up travel websites, comparing prices and arguing with your chinese friend and all the works.
Until now I still wonder how my friend and I pulled our 8-day Shanghai-Beijing Trip off. Sure we did encounter some mishaps but nothing major. The Video in my previous entry is a teaser of our trip.
